Product comparison

Inox, Mini, Wave, Android BT, C7 Ultra or App — which should you choose?

All six families use flow sensors, but they differ in display, mounting, connection and channel capacity. Define the fuel system first, then choose how you want to see the data.

Flowtrecs Wave touchscreen system with a fuel-flow sensor

Fuel system first, display second

For one petrol engine without a return line, all six product families are available. One or two return-line diesel engines, or two petrol engines without return lines, need the correct Wave, standard Android BT, C7 Ultra or App variant. Inox and Mini support a maximum of one sensor.

Before comparing screens, establish the engine count, return-line layout and required FS-40 range. If those details are unknown, start with how many fuel-flow sensors your engine needs.

  1. Determine whether the installation needs 1, 2 or 4 sensors.
  2. Assess the mounting position and exposure to water.
  3. Choose a built-in, dedicated or personal display.
  4. Only then select the exact kit variant.

Fuel economy is not limited to one model

If your main goal is to find the settings that deliver the greatest distance from one litre of fuel, you do not need one particular type of display. Inox, Mini, Wave, standard Android BT, C7 Ultra and App combine consumption with speed and show fuel economy in km/l.

Shared benefit: km/l lets you compare how speed, RPM, trim and weight distribution affect the distance obtained from one litre.

Choose between these families primarily according to the fuel system, required sensor count, mounting position, water protection and preferred display. The guide to how Flowtrecs measures fuel consumption explains how to calculate and compare km/l in practice.

The table compares product families, not the contents of every variant. Single, Duo, Diesel and Duo Diesel kits contain different sensor quantities and the corresponding measurement interface.

Inox or Mini: a simple system with two mounting options

Flowtrecs Inox is a waterproof IP65 round instrument for a standard 52 mm cut-out. It has an AISI 316 stainless-steel front, tempered glass, touch buttons and a low profile. Choose it when the gauge should be integrated permanently into the dashboard.

Flowtrecs Mini is splash-resistant (IP64) and surface-mounted without a large 52 mm cut-out. Its black housing and backlit LCD suit installations with limited space behind the dashboard or where less invasive mounting is preferred.

Shared limitation: both devices support a maximum of one FS-40. They suit one petrol engine without a return line and do not perform diesel feed-and-return differential measurement.

Wave: an integrated display for an exposed helm

Flowtrecs Wave has a 4.3-inch capacitive touchscreen and a waterproof IP68 enclosure. It combines fuel data with GPS speed, trip information, an anchor alarm and MOB. The sensor or sensors connect to the panel by cable.

The Wave family has variants for one or two petrol engines and for one or two return-line diesel engines. It is the natural candidate for an exposed helm where the panel's stated water protection matters more than a larger screen or wireless display link.

For one return-line diesel, choose the Diesel variant with two sensors and differential measurement.

Android BT, C7 Ultra or App: dedicated panel or your own device

Standard Flowtrecs Android BT includes a dedicated 7-inch, 1000-nit touchscreen and runs Android 6. The panel is not waterproof. Install it only inside an enclosed boat, in a dry cabin or at a fully protected indoor helm. The sensor hub sends data to the display over Bluetooth, while built-in GPS supports maps and navigation data.

Flowtrecs C7 Ultra Android BT is a newer, separate family with a waterproof 7-inch 1000-nit IPS display (IPX6), Android 12 and Bluetooth 5.0. It is offered in exactly 1, 2 or 4-sensor kits matched to engine count and return-line layout.

Flowtrecs App uses your Android phone or tablet as the display. The app is not available for iOS and does not work on an iPhone or iPad. The kit includes a Bluetooth interface and the sensors for the selected variant, but not the phone or tablet. It reduces the number of permanent panels, while display brightness, charging and water protection depend on your device.

Choose standard Android BT only for an enclosed boat and dry interior — the panel is not waterproof. Choose C7 Ultra when you need a waterproof IPX6 panel with Android 12 and Bluetooth 5.0. Choose App when a compatible Android phone or tablet should provide the screen and GPS.

App, Android BT and C7 Ultra support RPM readings and the MOB function. The anchor alarm is available only in Flowtrecs Wave.

For Android compatibility, first connection and disconnection checks, continue with the Flowtrecs App and Bluetooth setup guide.

The exact kit contains the interface and sensor count specified by the selected row of the table. Also confirm that each sensor's range covers the minimum and maximum actual flow in its line.

A short decision path

  • Waterproof IP65 round panel and a 52 mm cut-out: Inox.
  • Splash-resistant IP64 round panel without a large cut-out: Mini.
  • Waterproof IP68 touchscreen for an exposed helm: Wave.
  • Non-waterproof 7-inch Android 6 display, enclosed boats only: standard Android BT.
  • Waterproof 7-inch IPS display, Android 12, IPX6 and Bluetooth 5.0: C7 Ultra.
  • Android phone or tablet as the display: Flowtrecs App — no iOS app.
